Canada Day Celebrations.
Jul. 2nd, 2006 12:04 amA bunch of us went out to the Canada Day celebrations up at Columbia Lake here in Waterloo, getting there about 6:00 or so. The university has this fair that goes on, so we wandered around the various vendors and things. It was kind of chilly, and the wind was blowing, and it started showering, so a lot of time was spent hiding under trees.
My roommate had to work at 11:00 so he couldn't stay for the fireworks, he left after we found a nice place to watch the fireworks over the lake. We were nervous that the fireworks weren't going to happen, with the rain and wind, and the lightning (it was only two bolts about five miles away,) but they did.
They were nice, and there were some new types that I hadn't seen before, so that was cool, but towards the end, one of the shells went off about 30' above the launch area, and the show was cut short. I hope no one was hurt.
After that, we went back and harassed my roommate at the pizza place. It's actually a really nice place, neat decor, and good pizza. More hanging out, and eating pizza.
All in all, a really fun day.
