A lot happened this weekend, saw Serenity (see previous post) friday, got a new Magnavox surround sound home theater system from XSCargo, with a one and a half hour bus trip down, and a one and a half hour bus trip back carrying a large box, which wasn't too heavy, just awkward.

We got back just in time to start our new d20 Modern campaign, lots of fun, set in a post modern, deteriorating society world, I'm playing a boxer/hired muscle type guy. If anyones interested in details, just ask.

After that, we spent about four hours setting up the sound system. It's quite an experience hearing(and feeling) the THX sound at max volume in your own home. A bunch of people stopped by around 12:30 or so to see the results, and we just hung out for a while, listening to GBS on the new system. It's really nice having the music on low in the background in surround, it turns it into nice ambiance. Around 1:30, we went out to McMullans, a local bar, for a pint and food. By the time we got there, the kitchen was already closed, so we had a shot of GoldSchloger, the other guys watched the waitresses ass, and we went home at last call.

When we got home, a couple of larper friends were hanging around, waiting for a cab, so we went up and hung out for a while. A hour, and two phone calls to the taxi company, later, they decided to call a different taxi company, and ten minutes later, they had a taxi. So, after a bit of websurfing, I went to bed around 5:00 in the morning, quite happy with a well spent Saturday. Then came Sunday...

So after all that, I didn't wake up until 1:00 this afternoon, which was find, I didn't plan on doing more then a quick trip to the gym. But first I put am MP3 CD I was looking for last night and found this afternoon, since we were having a discussion about the Metallica version of "Whiskey in the Jar" and the more Celtic version, as some people hadn't heard more traditional version. Unfortunatly, the DVD player didn't recognize the CD, stupid "no disk" came up. I tried cleaning it, and it had a few scratches, but still played fine on my player, but still wouldn't read it in the DVD player. So I tried one of the CD's we had in the night before. "no disk". *aww crap* tried "Fight Club" (THX Track source) "no disk" ... so I went out and got a DVD cleaner kit, just to try. Clean it, disk in, "no disk" ... ... ... F***. I really hate buying electronic equipment. It just likes to hate me.

I checked, and the receipt said "exchanges require ... all accessories" four hours setting up six speakers, running wires down, around, under carpet, and behind furniture, and I had to take it all down again, just because the DVD part was defective? I had to get out, so I took a walk. I have great friends, while I was out, one of my roommates called XSCargo, and convinced them to exchange just the DVD player, but we had to get there before they closed at 6:00, and the bus to get there doesn't run on Sunday, and today would be the only time in the next two weeks that there was any chance to get out there. So we bussed downtown, and then taxied across to make the exchange. Since there was no urgency going back, we decided to walk back to the bus, and from there decided it would be easier to walk home. Since I didn't get to the gym, walking from the far end of Victoria St, Kitchener to Uptown Waterloo was a pretty good substitute. And it was a gorgeous day out today, nice and warm, sunny, with just the right amount of breeze to keep it from over heating.

This was going to be a rant, but everything turned out all right, so I happy. I'll never go there again, and tell everyone to avoid them at all costs, but I'm not angry anymore.

So that's it for now, I seem to be rather long winded today...
